Three Twin Valley League teams continued their volleyball seasons on Saturday in tournament action as Linn, Hanover and Clifton-Clyde all competed at the Republic County Invitational.

The number #8 team in Class 1A-DI by the KVA in the Linn Bulldogs put together the best area performance at the Republic County Invitational, finishing with a fourth place showing. The Bulldogs worked their way through pool play unblemished beating Pike Valley in straight sets (25-15, 25-18) and topping Thayer Central, also in straight sets (25-11, 25-11), but needed three sets to beat Republic County (25-22, 14-25, 27-25). In the Semifinals, Linn took on Beloit and won set one but fell in the matchup in three sets (25-23, 12-25, 18-25). The loss sent the Bulldogs to the third place game where they took on Republic County again but this time Linn took the straight set loss against Republic County (25-14, 25-17), to finish the tournament 3-2 on the day.

Clifton-Clyde also finished the tournament with a 3-2 record on the day as they won their final two matches to claim fifth place. The Eagles started action out by just going 1-2 in pool play with their lone win coming against fellow TVL team in Hanover, as the Eagles won in three sets (25-12, 22-25, 25-23). But Clifton-Clyde lost to Smith Center (25-13, 25-13) and Beloit (25-15, 26-24) both in straight sets in the other pool play action. In the consolation bracket semifinals Clifton-Clyde faced Thayer Central and picked up the straight set win (25-10, 25-18) to play for fifth place against Pike Valley, who the Eagles would beat in straight sets (25-13, 25-18) to earn fifth place at the Republic County Invitational.

For Hanover their day ended with a win but they only managed one win on the day finishing 1-4 and seventh place at the Republic County Invitational. The Wildcats lost to Clifton-Clyde in three sets in pool play and fell to Smith Center (25-18, 25-11) and Beloit (25-21, 25-9) both in straight sets, also in pool play. In the consolation bracket semifinals the Wildcats took the straight set loss to Pike Valley (25-23, 25-17), meaning they would play Thayer Central for seventh place. Hanover would finally get in the win column on the day in the match with Thayer Central, taking seventh place with a three set win (21-25, 25-9, 25-13.

All three TVL schools now turn their attention back to League play this coming week.
