A third of the high school football season is in the books with this past Friday's action and teams are looking to prepare for district play that will open across the State in a few weeks.

The latest football rankings have been released across the State and three area teams find themselves ranked in at least one poll, while many others are getting attention in polls.

Class 4A-Division II the Holton Wildcats continue to hold down a spot in the Top five across the State in all four polls ranking second in the Topeka Capital Journal and Kansasprepfootball polls, while ranking third in the VarsityKansas and Kpreps polls. After a week one loss to Silver Lake, the Wildcats beat Maize South in week two and Sabetha in week three, 42-12.

In Class 3A the Centralia-Wetmore Panthers are the lone area team ranked checking in at fifth in the Topeka Capital Journal poll, while coming in, in the others category in the other three polls after a 3-0 start to the season that includes a week three 56-14 win over Onaga. Four other area teams are getting attention in the polls across the State as Nemaha Central (3-0), Maur Hill-Mount Academy (3-0), McLouth (3-0) and Riverside (2-1) all are in the others category in at least one poll.

Class 2-1A does not house an area team in the rankings after three weeks of action but the area team that people are keeping their eyes on in Class 2-1A so far is the Troy Trojans who are 2-1 and getting looks in multiple polls.

At the 8-Man level it's the Hanover Wildcats dominating the scene as they continue to rank number one in 8-Man Division I in all four polls across the State, after a 3-0 start to the season and a 52-6 rout of Wakefield this past week.

A pair of Twin Valley League teams in Axtell (2-1) and Linn (2-1) both are getting some attention at the 8-Man Division II level in some of the polls after three weeks.

Week four presents another test for teams across the State as district play starts to loom ever closer for many teams at all levels.
