Week Three KVA Volleyball Rankings Released and Eight Area Teams Are Ranked

As the volleyball season continues to roll along the latest Kansas Volleyball Association rankings continue to be highlighted by area teams, with eight area teams ranked this week all from the Big Seven and Twin Valley League.

The Class 1A-Division I poll is starting to be dominated by the TVL as four teams are in the latest rankings with the Centralia Panthers leading the charge as they continue to be ranked #2 this week with a 19-1 record, after picking up three wins on Tuesday night beating Valley Heights, Clifton-Clyde and Blue Valley-Randolph. The Panthers volleyball team is the current girl's "Athletes of the Week" on MSCsports.net after winning the Hiawatha Invitational over the weekend. Joining Centralia in the rankings is Valley Heights and Linn who both remained ranked this week, while Frankfort joined the rankings for the first time this year. The Valley Heights Mustangs moved up one spot to #6 and are 10-4 on the season after a 2-1 night on Tuesday at their home quad beating Clifton-Clyde and Blue Valley-Randolph, while take a three-set loss to Centralia. While, the Frankfort Wildcats who split their matches on Tuesday beating Axtell and falling to Troy, has joined the rankings jumping into the Top 10 at #8 with a 10-4 record this season. Linn fell down one spot to #9 this week and sit at 14-6 on the year after a pair of wins on Tuesday night beating Hanover and Wetmore.

One other TVL team is ranked, also as the Washington County Tigers continue to be one of the top ranked teams in Class 2A, checking in at #2 this week again in the polls. The Tigers are off to a blistering start to the season as they are 14-0, after wins against Onaga and Doniphan West on Tuesday night.

The Big Seven League has three teams in the volleyball rankings this week with Nemaha Central, Holton and Jeff West all remaining in their respective class rankings.

For the Thunder of Nemaha Central they continue to be steadfast at #6 in the Class 3A polls, as they are 10-2 on the season and topped ACCHS in League action on Tuesday for a pair of wins.

While in Class 4A-Division II the Jeff West Tigers and Holton Wildcats have traded spots in the poll this week, with Jeff West ranking #3 with an 11-2 record and Holton at #4 with a 10-5 record. The two teams split their League dual on Tuesday night with the Tigers winning their match in straight sets and the Wildcats winning their match in three sets.

The volleyball action continues to heat up on the court as the season is in full force and the competition level in the area League's looks to be tough all around.
