It was ultra-competitive on the court on Tuesday night in Frankfort as the Wildcats hosted Axtell and Troy for Twin Valley League play and at the end of the night each team went home with a win and loss, going 1-1 in action apiece.

The night kicked off with the Troy Trojans claiming the straight set win over Frankfort 28-26, 25-18. Set one started with Troy rattling off four straight points and the Trojans led for the first portion of the set until Frankfort pushed ahead at 12-11 and did not give the lead back up until late in the set as Troy took back to lead at 22-21. The team's trade tallies back and forth and each had their shot at set point but ultimate Troy finished off the set winning 28-26. Just like set one Troy struck first but the teams traded blows back and forth until Troy posted three straight points to lead 16-13 and Frankfort called a timeout. Out of the Wildcat timeout Troy kept their momentum and posted three more straight tallies and led 19-13 and used that cushion to secure the match win 25-18. Junior, Makayla Ross was a big playmaker upfront for Troy with her sets and attacks, while Holly Whetstine and Cailyn Anderson both made big plays. For Frankfort the junior, Kyla Hardwick had some aggressive kills up front, while the freshman Rebecca Adams made multiple plays.

In the second match of the night the Troy Trojans squared off with the Axtell Eagles and it was the Eagles flying to the straight set win as Axtell won 25-15, 25-18. Set one was tight early until Axtell started an 11-1 run when leading 10-8 and that stretched proved to be to much for Troy to overcome. The Trojans tired a late run stringing three points together making it 23-14 but ultimately fell 25-15 in set one. Set one the mojo continue for the Eagles on the court as the serving of Ashley Buessing and Courtney Heinen led to long runs by the Eagles and ultimately the 25-18 set win and match victory. Both Buessing and Heinen each had a pair of service aces in set two for Axtell. Kiersten Talbot and Bradie Schmitz both made plays with sets and spikes, respectively for the Eagles. While, Troy in the loss had another solid showing by Ross and Breanna Smith strung points together with her serves during the match, also.

To finish of the night it was the Axtell Eagles and Frankfort Wildcats facing off and the match just like the first two of the night was decided in straight sets as Frankfort bounced back from a earlier loss on the night to win 25-12, 25-21. The Wildcats took advantage of Axtell miscues with let serves and long spike answers that continually went out bounds and added their offense in the mix for runs to assume control of set one and win it 25-12. Set two proved to be tighter between the two teams but the Wildcats held off Axtell down the stretch to pick up the set 25-21 and the win. The play of Hardwick and Maura Kennedy upfront helped pace the Wildcats while Adams and Abra Shirley set up their teammates with great sets. Axtell in the loss had some solid plays from Taylor Feldkamp, especially defensively while Megan and Ashley Buessing both played key factors.

For Axtell the 1-1 night puts them at 8-6 on the season and 5-3 in TVL action, while Frankfort moved to 10-4 overall and 6-3 in TVL action and Troy is now 7-8 on the year and 4-3 in League play. All three teams picked up a win and loss on the night and now turn their attention to tournament play for Axtell and Frankfort, as Axtell hosts the Axtell Invitational on Saturday, September 27th, while Troy will be next in action at home in TVL action as they host Onaga and Doniphan West on Tuesday, September 30th.
