Nine Area Schools Ranked in Latest Kansas Cross Country Rankings

The final stretch of the season is upon us over the next few weeks before Regionals and then State competitions in cross country and the Regional assignments have been released by KSHSAA. After all the action so far this season the Kansas Cross Country Coaches Association has released it's latest set of rankings (released 10-5) and nine area teams are ranked in the Top seven of their class with many others getting attention.

Class 1A continues to house be the class that has the most ranked area squads along with 3A in the polls with three teams in the boys rankings and one in the girls, while two others are in the others getting attention category. On the boys side the TVL highlights the bottom half of the rankings with Frankfort, Wetmore and Axtell ranked fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, while the Axtell girls are also ranked checking in at number six. The Centralia Panther girls and Valley Heights Mustang boys are both getting attention in the polls, also.

In Class 2A it's another TVL team highlighting the rankings for the area as the Washington County Tiger boys continue to check in, in the Top seven of their class coming in at number three in the latest rankings. While the Jefferson County North Charger boys and girls are both in the others category, getting attention in both polls.

Class 3A, just like 1A has four area teams ranked two in the girl’s poll and two in the boy’s poll. The highest ranked area team honor goes to the Hiawatha Red Hawk girls, who ranked second in the latest polls, while the Hiawatha boys check in at number four in the boys rankings. ACCHS lady Tigers and Pleasant Ridge boys are both also ranked as ACCHS checks in at number seven and Pleasant Ridge comes in at number three in the new polls.

Class 4A continues to be without an area team in the rankings but the Atchison lady Redmen continuing to remain in the others category getting attention in the polls.
