Highland Football Off to 4-2 Start & Host Iowa Central Saturday -- Listen to Game on 103.9 KNZA

Highland Community College football fresh off of one of their best seasons in school history in which they went 6-4 and made the Jayhawk Conference playoffs for the first time in school history, have been playing well this season under the direction of new Head Coach, Aaron Arnold.

Arnold has the Scotties at 4-2 on the season, riding a three-game winning streak as took over the program after Ryan Held after last season to take the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M coaching job. The Scotties are a few points from being 5-1 as they lost by three in week one at Garden City. Arnold who is now leading the Scotties as the head man, previously served as the teams Assistant Coach, head strength coach, running game coordinator and offensive-line coach.

The Scotties defense has been big all season making plays right and left helping them win games as the just allow 19.5 ppg to their opponents and 297.2 total yards per game. Defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Ruzell McCoy has a defense that has forced 15 turnovers on the season in six games while posting 30 sacks and scoring five touchdowns.

While on the offensive the Scotties replaced many key pieces but are getting the job done with 335.5 total yards per game, with a good balance of the run (136 ypg) and pass (199.5 ypg), while averaging 31.7 ppg.

This Saturday, October 11th the Scotties welcome a 2-4, Iowa Central team to town and it's homecoming for the Scotties, with kickoff set for 1:00pm. Highland will be honoring the Class of 1964 at the football game and have other activists for the Class earlier in the day. The game will be a feature broadcast on 103.9 KNZA on Saturday with coverage starting at 12:45pm on the radio and online here at MSCsports.net (click listen live tab and KNZA link to listen online). The pregame for the broadcast will feature a pair of interviews as Justin Fluke caught up with Scotties Coach Arnold (to listen to interview - click here) and also Highland Linebacker and former Sabetha Bluejay, Levi Huneke (to listen to interview - click here), while at halftime we will chat with Highland President, Dave Reist. Huneke is currently the fourth leading tackler on the team with 25 and has a sack and pass breakup on the year.
