McLouth and JCN Split to Open Up the Season

 The two Jefferson County North and McLouth basketball teams met in Winchester on Friday night to open up the 2014-15 basketball season and after the night was over the two schools would earn a split.

GIRLS = JCN 57, McLouth 31
 
After a slow start for both teams to open up the ballgame, the Lady Chargers got on a roll and finished the first quarter with an 13-2 lead. The Lady Bulldogs battled back in second quarter off of 6 points by Meghan Jackson to cut the JCN lead in half as the Lady Chargers went into the halftime break with a 21-15 advantage. McLouth came out hot in the third quarter and were able to get the lead down to two, but Briana Page hit three consecutive three pointers and the Lady Chargers went on a 12-5 run to head into the fourth quarter with a 37-24 lead. Page hit one more three to begin the final quarter as the Lady Chargers continued to extend their lead in route to a 57-31 win to open up the season. Julie Schrick led the Lady Chargers in scoring with 14 points while Page finished right behind her with 12 of her own. Jentry Seichepine also reached double figures for JCN as she had 13 along with Annabelle Vaught who chipped in 10. Meghan Jackson did her best to keep McLouth in the game finishing with 13 points while Angela Dailey poured in 11 points. No other Lady Bulldogs had more than 2 points on the evening. 
 
BOYS = McLouth 59, JCN 54
 
McLouth got off to a hot start to begin the ballgame leading by 6 points after the first quarter and capitalizing on their free throw opportunities in the second frame to take a 26-19 lead into the halftime break. Jefferson County North came out of halftime and was able to eventually take the lead by one, but the Chargers couldn't keep the Bulldogs off the free throw line and McLouth made them pay by hitting 16 of 22 freebies to pave the way to a 59-54 victory. McLouth was led in scoring by Nic Bair who put the Bulldogs on his back as he poured in 28 big points. Jack Courtney was the only other Bulldog in double figures as he had 10 points while Wyatt Herman and Kevin Gann each chipped in 6. Braden Schneider led the Chargers with 13 points and was joined in double digits by Shawn Lane who had 11 and Bryce Noll who added 10 of his own while in foul trouble throughout most of the second half.
