ACCHS Performance at Eudora Wrestling Tourney Highlighted by Three Top Four Finishers

The ACCHS Tigers took to the mats over the weekend in the Eudora Tournament of Champions and competed against top flight competition in the State of Kansas from multiple classifications.

Highlighting the day for the Tigers were three top four finishes, including a second place finish on the mats for Bratten Forbes who posted a 6-2 record on the day at 220lbs. Forbes opened the day winning his first four matches notching pinfalls wins in each with times of 3:39, 0:34, 2:49 and 2:49. Round five before bracket play Forbes took a major decision loss, 15-7 to a grappler from Maize South. Moving into the quarterfinals Forbes notched another pinfall win this time in 3:20, moving him into the semifinals were he won by a 9-6 decision over a wrestler from Louisburg. In the championship bout Forbes took on a grappler from DeSoto and lost a time bout in a 5-1 decision to finish second on the day.

Dillon Weaver and Hunter Ostertag put together strong days notching fourth place finishes for the Tigers at 182lbs and 120lbs, respectively. Weaver opened the day with a 7-3 decision loss but bounced back to win his next two bouts by major decision 11-2 and a 3-2 decision to head into the quarterfinals of the winner's bracket. In the quarterfinals, Weaver earned another tight victory on the mats winning via a 7-6 decision, but in the Semifinals fell via pinfall, moving into the consolation bracket. In consolation action Weaver responded from his second loss of the day to win with a 5-1 decision, earning a spot to play for third place. In the third place bout Weaver lost a tight decision, falling 1-0 and going 4-3 to place fourth.

Ostertag currently ranked first in 3-2-1A KWCA rankings at 106lbs, wrestled at 120lbs at the Eudora Tournament and came out with a fourth place performance, going 5-3. Ostertag in the pool play matches posted a 3-1 record earning two pinfall wins in 56 seconds and 1:08, while also winning with a sudden victory 9-7. In the quarterfinals, Ostertag notched the 4-2 decision win, but went on to fall in the Semifinals sending him to the consolation bracket. Ostertag responded from the lost to win via pinfall, 4:05, earning the right to play for third place, but in the third place bout he fell by pin (2:58) to place fourth on the day at 102lbs.

The ACCHS Tigers now prep for Christmas break and will not hit the mats again until January, when they travel to Rossville for a tournament on Saturday the 10th.
