As the holiday break approached the Hanover Wildcats played host to the Onaga Buffaloes who were playing their first Twin Valley League game of the season, coming just for the break. Both games proved to be decided by a stretch run by Hanover in each contest, helping them to the sweep as the lady Wildcats won 57-40 and the Hanover boys notched the 56-44 victory.

The night started off with the lady Buffaloes of Onaga coming out looking for their first win of the season and they came out playing well pushing ahead early and taking advantage of opportunities to take a 19-12 lead after the first quarter. The Buffaloes went cold in the second quarter while Hanover pounced on the opportunity and clawed away at the lead and took it for themselves outscoring Onaga 16-8 in the quarter. But the Buffaloes did enough with their eight second quarter points to only trail 28-27 at halftime. In the second half Hanover stymied Onaga's offense with pressure forcing a multitude of turnovers and turned that into scoring plays to push their lead out to double figures and take control of the game, using an 18-4 third quarter to ultimately earn the 57-40 victory.

With the win Hanover moves to 3-2 on the season and had a trio of gals in double figures with Paige Doebele leading the charge with 12 points, while Shelby Bruna added 11 points and Ashton Jueneman off the bench posted 10 points. Jueneman's 10 points, 6-7 from the free throw line and energy off the bench earned her Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" on KMZA radio.

In the loss Onaga falls to 0-5 on the year and were led by Rebekah Glessner and Taylor Kufahl who both scored 11 points on the evening.

The boys contest was a close one early as well as it was a battle of a pair of 4-0 teams on the season. Behind a seven point first quarter by Will Bruna, Hanover clung to the 13-11 lead after the first period but the Buffaloes took the led from the Wildcats early in the second quarter leading 18-17 and led by three points. But Hanover responded and headed into halftime leading by seven, 30-23 on their home floor. Foul trouble with senior's, Jarod Gronewoller and Wyatt Cordell hurt the Buffaloes with both guys having to sit some in the second half, but Onaga continued to keep it close, but ultimately Hanover just proved to continue to push back with multiple big plays and pushed the lead out further, going on to win 56-44.

Hunter Nicholson had his best game of the year for the Wildcats as he notched 23 points, hitting three three-pointers and going 4-4 from the free throw line to earn Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA radio. Will Bruna chipped in 15 points for Hanover, while only three other Wildcats scored on the night, as they improved to 5-0 on the year.

Onaga with the loss heads into the holiday break 4-1 and were led by Cordell in the loss, as he finished with 13 points. Mitchell Duer added 11 points for the Buffaloes and Gronewoller tallied eight points, all in the second half.
