Latest KWCA Rankings (Jan. 20th) -- 3-2-1A & 4A

After an action packed past weekend of high school wrestling across the State of Kansas the new KWCA rankings have been released and two area schools are ranked as teams in Class 4A & Class 3-2-1A, while 14 area individuals check in, in the rankings.

The Holton Wildcats after falling down two spots to fifth last week are back tied for third as a team in Class 4A this week with four individual wrestlers ranked. Senior, Lucas Lovvorn continues to lead the charge in the rankings remaining ranked first at 160lbs after placing second at the Newton Tournament of Champions of the weekend. Justin Rieschick posted a third place finish over the weekend in Newton and continues to rank second at 145lbs in the polls, while Mason Baum is up one spot this week to fourth at 170lbs after placing fourth at the Newton Tournament of Champions this past Saturday. Sophomore, Tyler Price made the largest leap this week jumping up three spots to third in the rankings at 138lbs after going 5-0 at Newton and claiming an individual title for Holton, while the team placed 10th at the tournament out of 25 teams.

Royal Valley Panther grappler, Matthew Bailey picked up another medal over the weekend by winning the 182lbs weight class at the St. Mary's Invitational on Saturday and continues to be ranked fourth in Class 4A at 182lbs.

Class 3-2-1A house's one area team in the Top 10 and that is the Marysville Bulldogs who jump up two spots this week to fourth, while three individual Bulldog wrestlers are ranked. Senior, Josh Nelson continues to remain ranked first at 170lbs, despite bowing out early in the Jayhusker Invitational over the weekend. While, Chris Deters remains ranked third at 126lbs after securing the individual championship at the Jayhusker Invitational last Saturday. Sophomore, Jacob Mintzmyer comes in at third this week at 152lbs for the Bulldogs earning a second place finish last week at the Jayhusker Invitational.

Two other area grapplers continue to be ranked this number one at their weight classes as they have this season. Tristan Speer of Troy picked up another tournament title winning the 195lbs weight at the Jayhusker Invitational on Saturday, while Garret Dunlap of Doniphan West took home second place at 160lbs at the same tournament. Both Speer and Dunlap continue to remain ranked first at their respective weight classes. Junior, Kody Collins also checks in the rankings for Doniphan West remaining ranked fourth after placing third at 182lbs at the Jayhusker Invitational.

Sabetha Bluejay senior, Jacob Leuthold checks in at third yet again this week in the heavyweight division (285lbs), while ACCHS sophomore, Hunter Ostertag moved down one spot to fourth this week at 120lbs. Pleasant Ridge Ram senior, Colt Evans also remained in the rankings this week again checking in at sixth at 138lbs.
