Latest KWCA Rankings (Jan. 27th) -- 3-2-1A & 4A

The latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association rankings have been released and two area teams continue to remain ranked in the Top 10, while 13 individuals are ranked this week, down one from last week.

Class 3-2-1A, continues to be highlighted for the area by the Marysville Bulldogs who remain a Top 10 team, down one spot this week to fifth in the rankings, while also the rankings are highlighted by three individuals continue to hold down number one spots in their weight classes.

Senior, Josh Nelson continues to hold down number one for Marysville at 170lbs, while his teammates Chris Deters (126lbs) and Jacob Mintzmyer (152lbs) both moved down in the rankings this week. Deters fell down one spot to fourth at 126lbs, while Mintzmyer moved down two spots to fifth at 152lbs.

Troy Trojan senior, Tristan Speer and Doniphan West Mustang junior, Garret Dunlap have been rock solid atop the rankings in their respective weight classes of 195lbs and 160lbs all year and this week both remain ranked number one. Continuing to join them in the rankings is Doniphan West Mustang junior, Kody Collins who comes in at fourth again this week at 182lbs.

The one area grappler that made a jump in the polls in a positive direction moving up to number two at 285lbs is Sabetha Bluejay senior, Jacob Leuthold, up one spot this week. ACCHS Tiger sophomore, Hunter Ostertag also remained ranked in Class 3-2-1A checking in at fourth at 120lbs.

In Class 4A the back-to-back defending State Champion Holton Wildcats continue to highlight the rankings for the area as they check in tied for fourth in the team Top 10 rankings, down one spot this week. Four wrestlers individually continue to be ranked for Holton all remaining ranked in the same spot from the previous week. Senior, Lucas Lovvorn (160lbs) continues to lead the way sitting atop the perch in his weight class, ranking first, while junior, Justin Rieschick (145lbs) remains ranked second, Tyler Price (138lbs) again comes in at third and Mason Baum (170lbs) once again is ranked fourth.

Outside of the Holton quartet that has been ranked basically all season one other area grappler in Class 4A has been steady in the rankings all year and that has been junior, Matthew Bailey who continues to be ranked fourth at 182lbs this week.

The weekend stacks up to be a big one for wrestling in the area with multiple Invitationals, while a few teams will hit the mats on Thursday night also with Duals.
