 1st Place = Nemaha Central 43, Hiawatha 34

The start of the game and beginning of the second half were the story of the game as Nemaha Central jumped to an 11-0 advantage and forced 10 Hiawatha turnovers in the first quarter.  Yet, the Redhawks battled back and tied the game at 21 late in the first half before Nemaha took a 23-21 advantage into the locker room.

The Thunder started 7-0 quickly in the third period and outscored Hiawatha 9-2 to take a 32-23 into the final stanza.  Hiawatha cut the deficit to 34-28 with 3:30 left to play in the game, but Hiawatha turned the ball over on three straight possessions and Nemaha made 9 of 11 free throws to secure the victory.

Hiawatha finished with 23 turnovers and was only 1 of 10 behind the arc.  Emily Gartner scored 13 of her 18 points in the first half while Courtney Brockoff and Cariann Kunkel each chipped in 7.  Hiawatha settled for second place which was their best home invite showing since 2004.  The Hawks are now 6-6 on the season.

Nemaha got 12 points from Rachel Baumgartner and 11 from Jaci Swart while Kennedy McKernan scored 6 of her 8 points in the first quarter.  The Thunder are now 9-4 after winning the HIT for the third straight season and the 7th time overall, while avenging a one-point-loss to the Hawks earlier this season.

Nemaha also swept honors for the top freshman free throw shooter and best frosh three-point shooter in a seperate competition as Amanda Stallbaumer won the three-point contest and Allison Rottinghaus took top free throw honors.

 3rd Place = Marysville 58, Falls City 51

In a rematch from  a game Marysville won 50-46 earlier in the season, the Bulldogs rallied for a huge finish to secure third place after a runner-up trophy last year.  Falls City lead 49-44 with four minutes to play before Marysville ended the game on a 14-2 run and hit all their free throws down the stretch for the win.  Claire Cudney scored 28 points for the Bulldogs while Virtiska had 16 and Syndey Armbruster 15 for the Lady Tigers in defeat.

5th Place = Jackson Heights 41, Horton 49 in Overtime

In a rematch from a game Horton won a couple weeks ago, it was a tale of two halves on Saturday afternoon at the Roundhouse.  Horton used an 8-1 second quarter to take a 24-15 advantage into halftime.  Yet, Jackson Heights came out on a 10-2 blitz in the third quarter and forced overtime before pulling out the win.  Jessica Keehn had 12 points for Jackson Heights while Chelsey Trautloff had 11 for Horton.

7th Place = Rock Creek 57, Riverside 26

The Mustangs led from start to finish in their final game before leaving the HIT.  It was 16-6 after one quarter and the Mustangs led 33-16 at the break before cruising to the win.
