JCN, Frankfort, Jackson Heights & Frankfort Compete at Silver Lake Track Invite

Four area teams took to the track and the field on Tuesday as part of the Silver Lake Invitational and came home with several top notch performances against tough competition.

In the girls action the Jefferson County North Chargers had the best area performance taking fourth as a team out of nine schools competing on the day, while Jackson Heights placed fifth, McLouth sixth and Frankfort seventh. For the boys Frankfort led the area performances taking fourth, while McLouth finished sixth, Jackson Heights seventh and JCN eighth. Silver Lake girls and Wellsville boys won the team titles on the day.

Seven first place finishes were earned on the day between the four area schools competing with four of them coming in the girl’s competition.

The JCN lady Chargers picked up two of those first place finishes as their 4x800 meter relay team posted a time of 11:12.66 to win the gold and Annabelle Vaught won the long jump with a leap of 15'00. Four other top three finishes were picked up by the JCN lady Chargers as they took second in the 4x400 and third in the 4x100 meter relay, while Lyndsey Vittitow and Ella Weishaar each grabbed a bronze in the pole vault and javelin. For the boys the 4x800 meter relay team took home the silver.

Jackson Heights Cobras also had three of first place finishers as Seth Holliday and Kaitlynn Little each won an event. Holliday raced his way to the 800 meter run win behind a time of 5:10.86, while a time of 12:53.93 gave Little the gold in the girls 3200 meter run. Little also added a silver in the 800 meter run and bronze in the 1600 meter run for the Cobras. The other first place for Jackson Heights came in the boy’s 4x400 meter relay as the team posted a time of 3:35.45 to get the win. Other top three finishers for the Cobras included, Bree Williams who took third in the girls 300 meter hurdles and the lady Cobras 4x800 meter relay also picked up a third place finish.

McLouth also had a pair of first place finishes as Anna Moore won the girls 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.33 and Ryan Bristol won the 1600 meter run behind a time of 5:10.86. Moore added a second place in the 100 meter dash to her day, while Meaghan Jackson took second in the 400 meter dash and third in the 200 meter dash. For the boys Remington Courter, Tristan Funk and Jack Arnett all picked up bronze medals as Courter placed third in the long jump, Funk in the 3200 meter run and Arnett in took third in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. The Bulldogs boy’s 4x100 meter relay also earned a third place finish.

Ten top three finishes were registered by the Frankfort Wildcats at the Silver Lake Invite with seven coming in the boy’s competition. Lance Ross led the Frankfort boys taking second in the shot put and third in the discus, while Sheldon Parthemer, Ryan Kraushaar and Derek Kraushaar each took second in a field event, also. Parthemer grabbed the silver in the pole vault, Ryan Kraushaar in the javelin and Derek Kraushaar in the discus. Jacob Studer brought home a second place in the 110 meter hurdles, while the Frankfort boys also took third in the 4x800 meter relay. In the girls competition, Marie Wessel finished third in both the shot put and discus, while Abra Shirley took third in the triple jump for the Wildcats.
