Garrett Borcher

The Doane College Athletic Department held their annual awards ceremony on Tuesday evening. Honored as the 2014-15 Doane Male and Female Athletes-of-the-Year were Kale Wolken of the track and field program and Ellie Doughty of the softball program.

 A co-winner last year, Wolken has already had a good season with a few meets to go.  During the indoor season, he received NAIA National Field Athlete-of-the-Week honors and was the heptathlon national champion.  So far during the outdoor season, he leads the NAIA in the decathlon, an event in which he is the defending national champion, and has also qualified for nationals in the long jump.

The junior from Tecumseh, Nebraska is a Johnson-Brock High School graduate. 

Doughty is a junior from Omaha. 

Garrett Borcher, a member of the Doane Football Team was selected as the winner of the Bill Bayer Junior Scholar-Athlete Memorial Scholarship.
