Nemaha Central & Vermillion Lead Area Performances at St. Mary's Boys Golf Invite

Several area teams teed it up on Thursday, taking part in the action at St. Mary's and several top notch performances were garnered by area boys golfers.

The Nemaha Central Thunder led the way for the area in the team standings taking home second place at after posting a team score of 368, finishing 10-strokes behind Rossville who won the competition with a team score of 358. Sabetha Bluejays and Jeff West Tigers followed up the Thunder in third and fourth place as teams posting scores of 373 and 377, respectively. Perry Lecompton and Vermillion carded team scores of 379 and 382 to take fifth and sixth as teams, while St. Mary's, Council Grove, Lyndon and Silver Lake finished out the team scores.

Vermillion's, Ryan Vernon shot an 80 which tied for the best round of the day but via the tiebreaker came away with second place overall on the day, while his teammate, Danny Mueting shot an 85 and took fourth. Jason Gore and Chase Boyce finished out the Vermillion team score with rounds of 107 and 110, while  Kobe Rumbo and Marshall Ruetti each tallied rounds of 119 and 121.

Nemaha Central on their way to a second place team performance had three Top 15 individual finishes on the day as Blake Mohney and Tristan Allen each shot a 90 to finish 11th and 12th, while Dylan Enneking carded a 91 for 14th place. Michael Love shot a 97 placing 19th overall to finish out the Thunder teams score, while Austin Shepley and Corey Nolte posted rounds of 99 and 105, respectively.

A pair of Top 10 individual performances led the way for the Sabetha Bluejays as Connor Epple and Reese Lierz placed sixth and seventh with rounds of 87 each. A 97 and 102 by Noah Garber and Jonah Montgomery finished out the Bluejays team score, while Corbin Halls and Camden Wenger each competed for Sabetha also posting rounds of 105 and 110.

Connor Mickens led the Jeff West Tigers again this season, carding a round of 85 for fifth place while Collin Ellis, Cooper Mickens and Hunter Overstreet notched rounds of 95, 96 and 101 to score the Tigers team scores. Zachary Murdock and Preston Stanly also competed for Jeff West posting rounds of 102 and 103.

Perry Lecompton had the second best individual round on the day as Jacob Morigson carded an 85 on the day to place third, while Alex Haynes carded an 89 to place ninth on the day. Brett Koehler and Christian Schmidt posted rounds of 97 and 108, while Corey Shackelford and Nick Maloun scored rounds of 110 and 126.

A trio of golfers for Horton also competed on the day as Cameron Smith, Rex Bruning and Rylee Rodvelt posted rounds of 104, 112 and 117, respectively.
