Four Twin Valley League teams squared off in track and field action on Thursday in Blue Rapids as Valley Heights hosted, Axtell, Centralia and Wetmore.

The lady Panthers and the Valley Heights boys claimed the top team spots on the day. For the Centralia girls they tallied 139 total points claiming first over Valley Heights who took second with 101 points, while Axtell and Wetmore took third and fourth. In the boys competition it was 128 points by Valley Heights that claimed the top spot, while Centralia, Axtell and Wetmore took second, third and fourth.

Valley Heights Mustangs captured the most event victories on the day with 14 first place finishes, with 10 coming in the boy's competition. Elijah Smith paced the Mustang boys by sweep the hurdles with times of 15.05 and 40.95 to win the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, while tallying a leap of 45'04.75 to win the triple jump. Jarret Griffee and Adrian Pishny also were multi-event winners for the Mustangs as Griffin won the javelin (143'10) and the 400 meter dash (55.90), while Pishny paced his way to the gold in the 1600 (4:53.65) and 3200 (10:34.32) meter runs. Anthony Edwards and Logan Woodyard each picked up a gold winning the high jump (5'08) and long jump (19'01), respectively, while the Mustang quartet of Woodyard, Smith, Griffee and Keaton DeWalt won the 4x100 meter relay behind a time of 45.92.

For the lady Mustangs Kayla Smith, Shelby Vermetten and Sidney Blackburn each registered top performances on the day. Smith sprinted to the win in the 100 meter dash (13.51), while both Vermetten and Blackburn tossed their way to wins in the shot put (38'05) and discus (113'00). The team of Nicole Weyer, DeAndra Woodyard, Skyler Sanders and Ilexus Rose posted a time of 55.74 to win the 4x100 meter relay.

Centralia Panthers brought home 10 first place finishes with three multi-event winners on the day. In the boys action both Joey Ferron and Wyatt VanDorn each won two events, as Ferron tossed his way to wins in the discus (121'01) and shot put (47'09.50), while VanDorn won the 100 meter dash (11.62) and the pole vault (11'06). In the girls action Sadie Jones posted times of 6:08.39 and 14:15.06 to win the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, while Mayda Stallbaumer, Katie Glatczak, Chelsea Huerter and Regan Hueske won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:40.67. Huerter also won the pole vault 8'06, while Drew Kramer won the 100 meter hurdles (17.60) and Liz Hasenkamp won the javelin (105'07).

The Axtell Eagles also picked up 10 first place finishes with Mariah Deters pacing the way leaping to wins in the high jump (5'04), triple jump (34'08.75) and long jump (16'01.25) and sprinting to the win in the 200 meter dash (27.53). Kiersten Talbot picked up a pair of victories winning the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run with times of 1:04.91 and 2:35.63, while also racing with Bradie Schmitz, Anna Buessing and Courtney Heinen to win the 4x800 meter relay (12:31.05). The Axtell boys also took gold in the 4x800 as Brice Koch, Oliver Schmitz, Khristian Scheibe and Colton Buessing posted a time of 9:17.48 to take first. Koch added a first place finish in the 800 meter run (2:09.41), while Caleb Heiman took first in the 200 meter dash (25.02).

Wetmore Cardinals picked up a pair of gold medals on the day as Ryley Martin won the girls 300 meter hurdles with a time of 57.91 and the Cardinal boys 4x400 meter relay of Layne Hodge, Jayme Hodge, Jeremy Hoelscher and Beau Henninger posted a time of 3:49.90 to take first.
