Hanover Boys Lead TVL Performances at Manhattan Track Invite

Four Twin Valley League teams competed in an 11 team field on Thursday at the Manhattan track Invitational and all four came home with at least three or more individual event winners on the day with many top notch performances.

Leading the charge for the area was the Hanover boys who behind eight first place finishes and 121 total points took first place as a team, while Frankfort took third, Linn sixth and Blue Valley ninth. On the girls side of competition it was the Linn lady Bulldogs with the best area team showing placing second only 11 points off of first place which was won by Manhattan. Hanover and Blue Valley finished third and fourth as teams while the Frankfort girls took seventh.

The Hanover Wildcats continued their strong performances on the track this season especially on the boy’s side of competition with Evan Zabokrtsky leading the charge as he won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 11.50 and 23.03. The Wildcats swept the relay events posting times of 44.07, 3:26.05 and 8:39.60 respectively to win the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays, while Preston Jueneman claimed gold in the 400 meter dash (51.20), also on the track. In the field events both Devin Jueneman and Ethan Fritschi picked up wins for Hanover winning the triple jump (39'00) and shot put (44'07.50). The lady Wildcats earned four first place finishes, taking first in the 4x800 meter relay (10:38.18), while Taylor Klipp, Claire Zarybnicky and Paige Doebele each won an event. Klipp sprinted to the win in the 400 meter dash (1:07.64), while Zarybnicky took first in the 800 meter run (2:30.87) and Doebele leapt to the win in the triple jump (33'03).

Seven first place finishes by the lady Bulldogs of Linn helped them to second place overall as a team and Kendra Bargman led the way sprinting to the wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes behind times of 13.05 and 26.92. Linn also claimed gold in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 56.02 and 4:18.28, while Kaylie Rahe won the 300 meter hurdles (50.03). Shelby Ohlde and Brooke Diederich each won a field event for the Bulldogs, picking up first place finishes in the high jump (5'02) and long jump (16'04.75). For the boys it was Chad Gross highlighting the day winning the both the high jump (6'04) and long jump (19'09) for Linn.

The Frankfort Wildcats had four first place medals come home with them as Sheldon Parthermer won the boys pole vault (12'03) and javelin (188'09), while in the girls action both Marie Wessel and Allison Rose tossed their way to wins in the shot put (33'04) and the discus (96'01), respectively.

Blue Valley picked up three gold medals at the Manhattan Invitational as Katie Huston won the girls 3200 meter run (13:32.59), Georgia Hatesohl took first in the girls 100 meter hurdles (16.73) and Chase Carey won the boys 1600 meter run (4:39.55).
