Holton & Atchison Boys Golf Lead Top Performances at Maur Hill Invite

Seven area teams from the Northeast Kansas League and Big Seven League, along with one non-area team competed in boys golf action on Tuesday at the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Invitational.

It was the Holton Wildcats leading the charge as a team winning both the four-man and six-man team titles on the day. A score of 321 won the four-man competition by 19-strokes for Holton, as Maur Hill took second with a 340 team scores and Immaculata placed third in a score of 358. Atchison, Bonner Springs, Hiawatha and Horton finished out the team standings with scores of 366, 367, 401 and 491 to place fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

Only five teams field six-man teams and behind a team score of 498 the Holton Wildcats took the top spot by 40-strokes. The tournament host Maur Hill took second posting a team score of 538, while Bonner Springs finished third with a 601 score, while Atchison and Hiawatha finished fourth and fifth with team scores of 629 and 633.

All six Holton Wildcats finished on the day with Top 14 individual rounds on the day with Hayden May and Braden Sides leading the way with rounds of 75 and 78 to place second and third, respectively. Parker Sides and Garret Beecher carded rounds of 82 and 86 to both pick up Top 10 performances placing seventh and tenth. AJ Haussler and Kaden Brandt rounded out the card for Holton tallying rounds of 88 and 89 to take 13th and 14th place.

Atchison's Gabe Julo continued his strong season individually as he registered another top flight performance scoring a 74 to claim first place at the Maur Hill Invite. Dustin Goodman, Derek Thompson, Jase Nelson, Austin Ober and Katelyn Truman also competed for Atchison scoring rounds of 96, 97, 99, 126 and 137.

The host Maur Hill was led by Sam Sowers to behind his round of 79 took home fourth place, while Christian Wessel and Patrick Sullivan notched rounds of 84 and 86 finishing ninth and 11th. Rounding out the rest of the card for the Ravens on the day were rounds of 91, 95 and 103 by Canyon Miller, Cole Harris and Drew Harris.

A pair of Top 10 finishes lead Immaculata on the day as Ian Wheaton and Evin Wheaton posted rounds of 81 and 82 to place sixth and eighth on the day. Dawson Schroeder shot a 92 for the Raiders, while Jacob Murphy and Justin Varney also were in action scoring rounds of 103 and 111.

Josh Sangrait of Hiawatha finished 15th on the day with a 90, while Taylor Jacobsen carded a 93 for the Red Hawks on the course. Tom Nolte and Zach Perry each registered rounds of 109, while Tarren Miller carded a 110 and Keenan Hinton scored a 122 for Hiawatha.

Four golfers competed for Horton on the day with a 102 round by Cameron Smith leading their performances as Cole Bottom, Rex Bruning and Camryn Lowe tallied rounds of 121, 123 and 145, respectively.

Royal Valley had a pair of golfers in action as Brandon Hart and Max Hennis notched rounds of 137 and 145 at the Maur Hill Invitational.
