Linn Girls Win & Washington County Boys Take Second at Rock Hills Track Invite

The Twin Valley League highlighted the Rock Hills track Invitational on Friday as Linn, Washington County and Hanover all were in action and posted top notch performances.

Leading the charge was the lady Bulldogs of Linn who took home the meet title behind seven first place performances and 14 Top five finishes. Hanover and Washington County girls were not far behind in the team standings taking third and fourth, respectively in a 13 team field. While on the boys side of competition Washington County led the way for the area teams taking second place, behind only Smith Center. Hanover and Linn placed fifth and eighth in a 12 team field.

On their way to a first place team finish it was plenty of top notch performances pacing the way for the lady Bulldogs of Linn with Kendra Bargman leading the way taking first in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 12.56 and 26.22. Linn added gold medals on the track in the girls 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 51.46 and 4:17.70, while Kaylie Rahe won the 300 meter hurdles after posting a time of 49.75. In the field events Brooke Diederich and Shelby Ohlde each grabbed golds winning the long jump (16'11.50) and high jump (5'03), respectively. Rahe added a third place finish in the 100 meter hurdles to her day, while Deiderich placed third in the 200 meter dash and fourth in the 100 meters.

Rachel Bott, Kesiah Thalmann, Hanna Bott and Shakeila Wallace all picked up Top five finishes for the lady Bulldogs also. Bott took second in the triple jump, while Thalmann placed third in the javelin and Bott and Wallace finished fourth in the javelin and triple jump, respectively.

For the Linn boys Chad Gross led the way leaping to the win in the high jump with a mark of 6'04, while taking third in the long jump. Grant Cook posted the second best throw in the javelin, while Kyle Edgar placed fourth in the long jump and Micah Dieckmann finished fifth in the javelin.

Four first place finishes led Washington County on the day as Erin Alexander and Brooke Tuma each tossed their way to wins in the girl’s shot put (41'04.50) and discus (122'02), respectively and Hunter Kier won the boys discus (138'03.50), while Tiger boys 4x100 meter relay (45.36) took first, also. Plenty of second place performances were earned by Tigers as Joe Eaton placed second in the shot put, Martin Walter finished second in the high jump, the Tigers boys 4x400 meter relay took second and Cole Thompson took the silver in both the 200 and 400 meter dashes. Alexander added a second place finish in the discus to her day, while Heidi Stegman took second in the pole vault.

Both Logan Kier and Holly Delay each registered third place performances for the Tigers coming in the boy’s shot put and girls high jump, while Kier added a fourth place in the discus to his day. Brenna Linenberger took fourth in the girls discus and the lady Tiger 4x100 meter relay team picked up a fourth place finish, too. Fifth place finishes were earned by Jenna Hennerberg in the girl’s shot put, Konnor Penning in the boy’s high jump, Eric Miller in the boys 1600 meter run and Jon Harding in both the boys 110 and 300 meter hurdles.

Matthew White led the day for Hanover as he brought home gold in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 10.91 and 51.95, while Paige Doebele earned first place in the girls triple jump with a leap of 33'07.50 and Claire Zarybnicky took the gold in the 800 meter run (2:33.78). Doeble added a second place finish in the long jump to her day for the Wildcats, while Zarynicky placed third in the 1600 meter run. Three silver medals were earned by the Wildcats as the girls and boys 4x800 meter relay teams each took second and Trey Loshe earned the silver in the boys 800 meter run. The girls and boys Wildcats 4x400 meter relay team each took third, while Riley Doebele finished with the bronze in the girls 400 meter dash and finished fourth in the long jump. Devin Jueneman added a fourth place finish in the boy’s triple jump for Hanover, while Taylor Kilpp placed fourth in the girl’s 400 meter dash and Morganne Zabokrtsky fifth in the girls 800 meter run.

All three teams now turn their attention to Twin Valley League action as they will compete in the League meet coming up on Thursday.
