Doane College has received word that Kale Wolken (Tecumseh) has been named the Harry Gill Men's Outstanding Performer of the NAIA National Championships.

Wolken won the decathlon for the second straight year on Friday and added a runner-up finish in the long jump which took place during the decathlon, forcing the Tiger junior to compete in two championship events at the same time.

Wolken claimed the NAIA men's decathlon national title for the second straight year, posting 7,356 points over the 10 events.  Wolken posted the best mark in three of the 10 events, the long jump, 400m and pole vault.

While still competing in the pole vault portion of the decathlon, was also scheduled to participate in the men's long jump.  He was able to get one jump in out of a possible six but made it count by hitting a school record mark of 24-09.75 to place 2nd overall.
