Sabetha Girls Tennis Team Continue to Win Taking First at Seaman Invite

The wins continue to pile up for the Sabetha Bluejays girls tennis team as they hit the courts for the third time this season and earned another team first place finish in competition this time winning the Seaman Invitational in Topeka. 

Leading the charge was the play of Lexi Wenger and Courtney Plattner in singles action and both ladies remain unbeaten on the year now 10-0 each after 3-0 days at the Seaman Invitational. Wenger in singles number action breezed to 8-0 wins over Wabaunsee and Highland Park, while picking up a tough 8-6 win over Shawnee Heights. For Plattner she notched an 8-0 win over Wabaunsee and 8-1 win against Highland Park, while also winning 8-4 over Seaman. 

In doubles action the first few losses happened for the Bluejays but it was still great performances the teams of Nicole Brey and Jena Winkler and team of Laura Edelman and Savanna Metzger who each went 2-1 in competition to bring home second place finishes. Brey and Winkler picked up a pair of 8-2 wins over Shawnee Heights and Wabaunsee, while falling 8-1 to the host Seaman in doubles number one action. In the doubles competition number two, Edelman and Metzger won 8-0 over Wabaunsee and earned a tough 8-7 (7-4) tiebreaker win over Shawnee Heights, while also falling to the host Seaman 8-1. 

 

The Buejays have a quick turnaround and will hit the courts again on Thursday, September 10th as they host a quad and will also compete on Saturday at the Hiawatha Invitational.
