Hanover Wins Battle of Cats Topping Frankfort

It was a battle of Cats in week two as the Frankfort Wildcats hosted the Hanover Wildcats in a Twin Valley League showdown and while Frankfort brought out the claws early Hanover answered in a big way to earn the 62-30 win. 

Frankfort started the game off with in a big fashion as Adam Kenworthy on the first play of the game hit Sheldon Parthemer for a 30-yard strike and Frankfort was looking to pounce on Hanover early and that they would do as the drive culminated in a seven-yard touchdown pass from Kenworthy to Ryan Kraushaar. After the two-point conversion Frankfort held an 8-0 lead churning 5:05 off the clock in the first quarter. 

Hanover looked to responded and that they did orchestrating a scoring drive of their own on their first offensive series with a series of passing plays setting up a one-yard touchdown run from Devin Jueneman and the two-point conversion to make it 8-8 with 3:24 left in the first quarter. 

After trading scoring blows early Frankfort's offense stalled and Hanover regained the possession and started to mount a drive again, taking the lead just eight seconds in the second quarter on a Will Bruna to Devin Juenaman five-yard touchdown pass, making it 14-8 after a failed two-point conversion. 

Hanover continued to sling the ball through the air the rest of the first half, while Frankfort struggled to find success on offensive after the first drive. Bruna hit Matthew White for a 45-yard touchdown pass and Jueneman again this time for a 10-yard score to give Hanover 30-8 lead at halftime. Frankfort did stop Hanover at the one-yard line on a drive but had to punt deep in their own territory setting up a short field for Hanover to take advantage of the next drive. 

The Hanover Wildcats continued to make the pigskin soar down the field  pushing their lead out to 46-8 with 3:24 left to go in the third as White scored on a two-yard run and on a 10-yard pass from Bruna. But Frankfort found a spark late in the third quarter as Kenworthy hit Parthemer for 29-yard touchdown pass in traffic and Frankfort added another score on their next drive with a Jase Suther 25-yard run making 46-24 with just over 11 minutes left in the contest. Hanover answered with Bruna's fifth touchdown pass of the game this time hitting Trey Loshe for a 26-yard score. Both teams traded another score before the final horn sounded as Suther scored on a 29-yard touchdown run and Bruna added a 43-yard touchdown scamper to finish off the game at 62-30. 

The junior quarterback, Bruna once again led Hanover earning Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors going 20-28 for 297 yards with five touchdowns and one rushing. White who caught two of the five touchdown passes caught four passes for 96 yards, while Adam Zarybnicky caught five passes for 70 yards and Loshe six passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. 

Frankfort in the loss was led by Suther who ran for 184 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns, while Kenworthy was 8-19 for 133 yards two touchdowns and an interception. Parthemer caught four passes for 114 yards and one score for Frankfort. 

The win pushes Hanover to 2-0 on the season, while Frankfort falls to 1-1 on the year. Hanover will welcome a ranked Wakefield team to town next Friday, September 18th for week three action, while Frankfort is set to host a tough Burlingame team in week three.
