Nemaha Central, Holton & Jeff West Compete at Wamego Volleyball Invite

Three Big Seven League volleyball squads traveled to Wamego for tournament action on Saturday and had some tough match ups on the day. 

Both Nemaha Central and Jeff West were in Pool "B" for the day along with Rock Creek, Circle and William Chrisman. The Thunder finished pool play going 2-2 finishing third in the pool picking up a straight set win over Jeff West (25-17, 26-24), while also beating William Chrisman (25-18, 25-18) in straight sets. Nemaha Central fell to Rock Creek (27-25, 22-25, 17-25) and Circle (16-25, 25-21, 20-25) each in three sets in tough match ups. For Jeff West their lone win in pool play came against William Chrisman in three set (25-27, 25-14, 25-14), while falling to Nemaha Central, Rock Creek (10-25, 21-25) and Circle (15-25, 25-18, 18-25), to finish fourth in the pool. 

Holton competed in Pool "A" alongside Mission Valley, Wamego, Riley County and Santa Fe Trail and finished fourth in the pool with a 2-2 record. The Wildcats earned pool play wins over Wamego in three sets (25-20, 22-25, 25-10), while also beating Mission Valley in straight sets (25-15, 25-18). The two losses in pool play were tough three set losses to Santa Fe Trail (17-25, 25-22, 21-25) and Riley County (10-25, 25-18, 20-25). 

To cap off the tournament Nemaha Central competed against Santa Fe Trail for fifth place but settled for sixth after falling in straight sets, 25-13, 25-16. While, Jeff West topped Holton in three sets 25-15, 16-25, 26-24 to finish seventh and Holton took eighth out of the 10 team competing on the day.
