Centralia Girls & Frankfort Boys Headline TVL Cross Country Meet

As the regular season for cross country starts to come to an end area teams competed in League action looking to capture League titles and the Twin Valley League was highlighted by the Centralia girls and Frankfort boys who claimed the top spots. 

In the girl’s race only two schools field full teams as Centralia took the team title over Washington County. The boy’s competition featured seven teams and Frankfort earned the team title by 15 points over Wetmore who took second, while Onaga finished third. Washington County, Axtell, Valley Heights and Centralia rounded out the team performances finishing fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

The Panthers were led by a quartet in the Top 10 of the 24 girl’s runners on the day with Sadie Jones leading the charge as she won the girls race with a time of 21:10.88. Tamra Jones took second place behind a time of 21:49.09, while Maegan Koch and Madison Boeckman finished fifth and sixth with times of 23:30.84 and 23:42.50. Dylan Boeckman earned an eighth place finish in the boy’s race for Centralia after posting a time of 18:25.69. 

Frankfort on their way to the boy’s team title had five Top 20 finishes out of 42 boys runners on the day led by Brodric Shirley who posted a time of 16:55.28 to win the TVL title. Colton Parthemer placed sixth with a time of 18:15.03, while Brandon Anderson, Whalen Kokoruda and Brenden Levi placed 13th, 15th and 18th. Amburley Kokoruda placed 17th in the girl’s race for the Wildcats. 

Onaga had a trio of Top 10 finishes on the day led by Michael Eisenbarth's second place finish in the boy’s competition as he posted a time of 16:57.72, while Luke Marten finished tenth with a time of 18:51.78 and Jackson Glessner earned 19th place. The other Top 10 finish for the Buffaloes came in the girls race as Maggie Revell raced to a time of 21:57.66 to finish third, while Blendia Ames finished 15th. 

Wetmore Cardinal boys earned second place as a team and had Aaron Achten leading the way again as he ran to a time of 17:47.41 to place fifth, while Jonathan Bailey, Chanler Morfitt and Beau Henninger finished 11th, 14th and 20th for the Cardinals. McKayla Henry brought home a fourth place medal for Wetmore in the girl’s race after posting a time of 23:30.84, while Myran Crismas and Elizabeth Hutfles finished 12th and 13th. 

Axtell Eagles were led by a bronze medal from Burke Deters who behind the time of 17:00.59 place third in the boys race, while Oliver Schmitz finished 12th for the Eagles. 

For Valley Heights it was Adrian Pishny posting the best performance as he notched a time of 17:37.47 to place fourth, while Alex Hardin picked up a ninth place finish with a time of 18:40.00. Ilexus Rose earned seventh in the girls side of competition with a time of 24:12.91, while DeAndra Woodyard placed 11th and Rosa Blaske finished 14th. 

Washington County had four Top 10 finishers on the day with a seventh place finish by Eric Miller pacing the way as he posted a time of 18:21.47, while Joe Stegman and Malachi L'Ecuyer finished 16th and 17th in the boys race. On the girls side of action the trio of Emily Meyer, Kyujung Lee and Rachael Wood finished eighth, ninth and tenth with times of 24:15.22, 25:00.12 and 25:10.25, while Ashley Davis finished 19th. 

Clifton-Clyde had Abby Sikes and Mary Wilgers finish 16th and 18th in the girls race, while Alyssa Schmille finished 20th in the girls action for the Troy Trojans.
