Chargers Take Down Dragons on Noll's Strong Performance
By Jonny Kane

Despite a slow start, the Jefferson County North Chargers dominated the Valley Falls Dragons Friday night.

Senior quarterback Bryce Noll accounted for seven total touchdowns in the Chargers 44-14 win in Winchester.

Both teams struggled with penalties and turnovers in the first quarter of the non-district game. JCN took a 6-0 lead on a Noll 29-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Jake Brickell with 2:51 left in the opening quarter for the only score.

The Chargers took advantage of turnovers early in the second quarter as they scored twice in 1:30 capped off by a Noll 27-yard TD rush to take a 20-0 lead.

Valley Falls finally found the end zone on their next offensive series. The drive took two plays as junior quarterback Christ Yates found senior wideout Jarett Wildeman on a five-yard slant. Wildeman did the rest by breaking a tackle before going 55-yards to the house, putting the Dragons on the board.

It took the Chargers only 25 second to respond as Noll found senior receiver Brayden Summers from 48 yards out with 8:15 left in the first half giving JCN a 26-8 lead.

Noll added two more scores before halftime: a 15-yard pass to senior Cole Bryant 15 seconds later and a 15-yard rush with 2:41 left. The Chargers were in firm control leading 38-8 at the half.

A running clock went into effect early into the third quarter with Noll’s seventh and final touchdown of the night, this time to senior Nick Funk from two yards out making it 44-8.

Valley Falls tacked on a score late with a Nathan Pickerell 10-yard TD run.

Jefferson County North (4-3, 1-1 in district) heads to Marantha next week to get back into district play. Valley Falls (1-6, 0-2 in district) travels to Onaga.
