Twin Valley League Runners Perform Well at 1A State Cross Country led by State Title for Axtell Runner

Multiple Twin Valley League schools were represented on Saturday in Wamego at the Class 1A State cross country meet. 

Leading the way for the area was the performance of Axtell Eagle junior, Burke Deters who won the boys 1A State title and capped off a stellar junior year by posting a time of 17:32.17, winning by a little over five seconds. 

The Frankfort Wildcat boys had the best area team showing claiming second place as a team just seven points away from a State team title. Freshman, Colton Parthemer led the Wildcats placing 12th (18:17.07), while sophomore, Brodric Shirley grabbed a 13th place (18:17.83) finish to finish in the Top 20. Finishing out the boys team score for Frankfort was Brandon Anderson, Whalen Kokoruda and Brenden Levi who finished 27th, 37th and 48th, respectively. Jaron Thomas and Austin Hardwick both also copmeted for the Wildcat boys finishing 63rd and 72nd. Frankfort girls had four competitions finish 61st, 67th, 68th and 71st in Amburley Kokoruda, Addison Colvin, Amber Bramhall and Emma Rose. 

A pair of lady Centralia Panthers were the only area girl runners to finish in the Top 20 at State, but those performances partnered with two more helped the lady Panthers take second place as a team. Junior, Sadie Jones brought home a fourth place finish with a time of 21:19.46, while her sister, Tamra Jones a freshman posted a time of 22:19.66 to finish 15th. Madison Boeckman finished 31st and Maegan Koch posted a 40th place finish. Dylan Boeckman a sophomore, placed 15th (18:20.07) at State in the boy's competition also for the Panthers. 

Wetmore Cardinal junior, Aaron Achten ran to a fifth place finish at State behind a time of 17:54.39, as the Cardinal boys took sixth as a team. Chanler Morfitt, Jonathan Hladky-Bailey, Beau Henninger, Curtis Bloom and Orion Martin also ran for the Wetmore boys finishing 40th, 61st, 64th, 78th and 80th.  In the girls competition, McKayla Henry finished 42nd for the Cardinals at State, while Rylain Martin finished 51st and Myrna Crimas and Elizabeth Hutfles earned finishes of 59th and 60th. 

Senior, Michael Eisenbarth of Onaga notched a time of 18:12.29 to finish eighth at State, while Luke Marten took 30th for the Buffaloes. Maggie Revell finished just outside of the Top 20 for the lady Buffaloes placing 21st (23:02.35).
