(KLZA)-- The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-American team was announced for football in the college division on Monday and the Doane football team placed one member of this year's squad on the exclusive list.
Garrett Borcher (SR/Pawnee City, Neb.), an elementary education major, was named to the First Team for the second straight year. Borcher led the Tigers in tackles this season with 79 and finished his career in on 226 tackles, including 106 solo. He added 9.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
This season, he had one interception and it came in the NAIA Game of the Week against Northwestern. He returned it 28 yards for the game-winning touchdown. Borcher added two pass breaks from his linebacker position. He also recovered one fumble this year.
