Mound City Tournament Finals Set

(Mound City)-- The finals and third place games are now set for the 57th Annual Mound City Invitational Basketball Tourment.

Wednesday the top-seeded Mound City girls advanced to the finals with a 63-20 win over South Holt. Sophomore Kameron Freemyer scored 25 points to lead the Panthers to the finals. Tess Phillips was also in double figures with 11.

Fairfax will be the opponent for Mound City in Friday nights championship game. The Bulldogs defeated Nodaway-Holt 40-32 Wednesday. Ryan Hopkins scored 24 points for Fairfax. Franke Lemar had 10 to lead the Trojans.

In the Boys semifinals top seed North Nodaway beat Nodaway-Holt 55-42 to advance to the title game.

Third seed Mound City came back from 17 points down to beat second seed South Holt 69-63 in overtime.

Jaden Gillenwater scored 23 of his game-high 33 in the second half to lead teh comeback. Freshman Dylan Marrs scored 14 and Ben Shifflett had 13.  Three Knights scored in double figures, T.J. Mithcell had 14, Austin Barton had 12 and Alan Ottman added 11.

The girls title game featuring Mound City and Fairfax will be Friday night at 8 p-m with the boys third place game between Nodaway-Holt at South Holt at 6:30 p-m. The boys championship matchup is Saturday night at 8 p-m between Mound City and North Nodaway with the girls third place game between South Holt and Nodaway-Holt to tip off at 6:30 p-m.
