GIRLS - Jeff County North 49, Troy 38

In a possible 2A Sub-State preview, Jeff Country North bounced back from their first loss of the year (at Horton) and used a strong start to every quarter for a non-league victory at Troy.  The only Trojan lead of the night was 1-0, as Julie Schrick nailed a pair of treys to spark an 8-0 JCN run.  Leading 10-8 into the second quarter, the Chargers went on a 10-0 spurt to take control and lead 27-15 at halftime.

Troy cut the gap to six points late in the third quarter, but JCN put the game away scoring the first nine points of the final frame, including seven consecutive points from Annabelle Vaught who finished with a game high 19 point effort.  Vaught earned Citizens State Bank and Trust Company of Hiawatha "Player to Bank on" honors while Schrick added 9 points and JCN improved to 3-1 on the season.  Ravyn Jobbins chipped in 6 an helped the Chargers to a huge advantage on the boards.

Madi Marriott led Troy is scoring for the third straight game with 13 points while Blair Weishaar added 12, but the Trojans go very little production inside before falling to 1-2 on the season.

BOYS = Troy 73, Jeff County North 68 in Overtime

Troy jumped to a 9-2 lead and pushed the margin to 35-23 at halftime.  JCN fell behind by as many as 16 points in the third quarter before Bryce Noll got hot and scored 15 points, matching Troy junior, Cutar Huss with 15 points in the third quarter alone.  The Chargers outscored Troy 20-10 in the final quarter as sophomore, Boston Lane came off the bench and scored all 11 of his points, including a trio of three's and one to tie the game at 66 with one minute remaining.

Noll missed a game winning shot just right of the lane to end regulation as JCN never had a lead in the contest.  They missed a free throw opportunity in overtime and Troy got a steal and a layup from Huss to cap his night with 29 points and put the Trojans ahead to stay.  Reid Greaser and Luke Smith each hit two free throws in the final 13 seconds to seal a 3-0 start to the year for Troy.

Smith and Brody Winder each had 13 points and Troy was 17 of 22 from the foul line as a team.  Huss, who had scored 37 in a huge road win at Hanover on Friday, earned "Player to Bank On" honors making three shots behind the arc and going six for six at the foul line with his 29 points on Tuesday.

JCN made just 8 of 15 free throws and had 15 turnovers while Noll finished with 23 points.  The Chargers, who had lost by three points at Horton on Friday, also got 14 points from Brayden Summers and Elijah Meyer added 11.
