It's always highly competitive on the mats when Big Seven League foes Sabetha and Holton meet up and Thursday night was no different as it a tight contest and the Bluejays edged out the Wildcats for the 40-33 dual win.

In the matches wrestled on the mats between Sabetha and Holton each squad had five grapplers earn wins on the night. While three weight classes only had one wrestler so Sabetha picked up 12 points from the 113 and 120lbs weight classes with no Holton representative and Holton got six points at 220lbs as Sabetha did not have a grappler for that weight class.

As for the matches on the mat both Sabetha and Holton had four of their five individual wins on the night come via pinfall. The Bluejays had three pinfall wins in 33 seconds or less as Brendan Rokey registered a 33 second pinfall win at 182lbs and both Cau Rokey (170lbs) and Brandon Brownlee (132lbs) each won their matches for the Bluejays by pinfall in 22 seconds. Elliot Strahm added a pinfal win to the night for Sabetha at 285lbs winning in 1:31, while Seth Harrell had the other win on that mats for the Bluejays winning by major decision 9-0 at 126lbs.

Holton on the night had two of their four pinfall wins come in less than 20 seconds as Kyler Tannahill (195lbs) won his bouts in 18 seconds, while Justin Pool (145lbs) registered a win in just 11 seconds. Tyler Price (160lbs) and Justin Rieschick (152lbs) each added pinfall wins for the Wildcats earning them in 1:34 and 1:14, while Lawson Henry notched the other win on the night for Holton on the mats winning by a 5-3 decision at 138lbs.

One team will hit the mat once more before the Holiday break, while the other will head into the Holiday break ending the first portion of their wrestling season with Thursday action. Holton is set to compete at the Ottawa Invitational on Saturday, December 19th and while, Sabetha heads into the break and will hit the mat next on Saturday, January 9th at the Rossville Invitational.
