The Holton Wildcats took on some tough competition on the mats on Saturday in their final action before the holiday break as they competed at the Ottawa Dual Tournament with nine other schools and earned fifth place as a team.

Holton started that tournament with a pair of wins beating Osawatomie 57-24, a dual in which they won a majority of bouts via forfeit as Osawatomie didn't have wrestlers at many weight classes. The Wildcats followed that up with a 60-12 dual win over Anderson County in the second round. After that Holton's opponents in Baldwin and the host Ottawa got the better of them in rounds three and four as the Wildcats lost 53-22 to Baldwin and fell 45-28 to Ottawa. The 2-2 record on the day pushed Holton into the fifth place match where they took on Fort Scott and would finish the day strong winning a tight dual 39-33 to take fifth place at the Ottawa Dual Tournament.

Leading the way on for Holton individual was Tyler Price and Lawson Henry who each posted a 4-1 record on the mats at Ottawa. Price earned three pinfall wins in 1:41, 1:02 and 2:00 minutes while also winning a match by a 4-0 decision. While, Henry also registered three wins by pin winning in 1:30, 5:17 and 3:02, along with a 12-3 major decision win.

Justin Pool, Kaden Watkins and Kyler Tannahill all three grabbed three wins on the mats for the Wildcats. Pool had a pair of quick pinfall wins in 54 seconds and 1:23, while also winning by major decision 11-1. For Watkins it was three pinfall wins on the day in 48 seconds, 1:37 and 2:29, while Tannahill won a pair of matches by pin in 29 seconds and 4:49 and by 11-9 decision.

Cael Jackson, Jayger Carson and Jameson Lutz all picked up a pair of wins on the mats for Holton, while Jackson Martin and Eugene Harris each won one match on the day.

Holton will continue their wrestling season in January on the 7th at the Basehor Linwood Invitational.
