One Area School & 11 Wrestlers Ranked in Latest KWCA Rankings - Feb. 17th

The high school wrestling regular season is in the books and Regionals are looming this week as area wrestlers look to earn a spot at the State tournament. The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association has released new rankings and this week again one area team and 11 area wrestlers are in the rankings between Class 4A and 3-2-1A. 

Class 4A continues to house a pair of Holton Wildcats in the rankings as both Tyler Price and Justin Rieschick are ranked again this week. The junior, Price comes in ranked second again this week at 152lbs after winning his weight classes at the Big Seven League meet last Saturday and helping Holton claim the League title, also. Rieschick was a top performer for Holton at the Big Seven League meet, also as he won his weight class of 145lbs and again comes in ranked fourth this week in Class 4A. 

In Class 3-2-1A it continues to be highlighted by Marysville from the area as the Bulldogs again rank fourth as a team in latest polls. The Bulldogs beat ACCHS and Sabetha in a double dual in their latest competition last week. Senior, Chris Deters continues to lead the Bulldogs in the rankings individually as he checks in at number one again at 132lbs, while Jacob Stryker and Jacob Mintzmyer each jumped this week to third in the polls at 160 and 170lbs, respectively. Stryker moved up two spots, while Mintzmyer moved up one spot in the polls. 

Doniphan West senior, Garret Dunlap moved up one spot at 160lbs checking in at fourth this week after winning his weight class at the Chase County Invitational last Saturday. Senior, Kody Collins also won his weight class last Saturday at the Chase County Invitational and again ranks fifth at 182lbs in the latest 3-2-1A KWCA rankings. 

Another area grappler in senior, Dutsin Graham of Pleasant Ridge moved up in the rankings, up one spot to second at 195lbs, while Riverside sophomore, Scott Resler again ranks fourth at 138lbs after winning that weight class at the Big Seven League meet on Saturday. Onaga junior, Quentin Lara checks in at fifth again this week at 220lbs. 

Wrestlers from all across the State will look to get to the State tournament starting on Friday and continuing Saturday with Regionals all across the State.
