KBCA High School Basketball Rankings Feb. 22nd - 14 Area Teams Ranked

The regular season of high school basketball ends this week in Kansas and the KBCA has released its final set of rankings. Once again this week 14 area teams find themselves in the rankings from Class 4A-DII to 1A-DII with all the movement for the area teams happening in the boys rankings. 

Six Twin Valley League teams continue to be ranked between Class 1A-DII and 1A-DI this week. In Class 1A-DII the Axtell lady Eagles took care of Doniphan West and Troy last week and are now 16-3 on the season, having won six in a row and 14 of the last 15 and are ranked ninth in the polls again this week.

In Class 1A-DI the number one continues to belong to the lady Panthers of Centralia after the Panthers beat Marysville and St. Mary's last week to move to 17-1 on the year and have won 16-straight. The Hanover lady Wildcats check in at eighth in the polls again this week after wins over Clifton-Clyde and Doniphan West last week to move to 14-5 on the season. 

On the boys side in Class 1A-DI the top three spots once again this week belong to the Twin Valley League but Hanover has taken back the number one spot from Doniphan West this week after the Mustangs were number one for a few weeks. Hanover picked up wins over Doniphan West and Clifton-Clyde last week to improve to 15-4 on the year and again are number one in the polls. While Doniphan West with the loss to Hanover and a win over Axtell are 15-4 on the season and ranked third this week. The Centralia Panther boys remain ranked second in the polls with a 12-6 record after falling to Marysville and beating St. Mary's last week. 

The lady Dragons of Valley Falls continue to highlight the Class 2A rankings as the Dragons are 18-0 on the season and remain ranked second in the latest polls. Last week Valley Falls topped Immaculata and Jackson Heights to remain unbeaten. In the boys rankings in Class 2A the Troy Trojans and Jefferson County North Chargers check in at seventh and ninth, respectively again this week. Troy sits at 17-2 on the year after beating Axtell last week, while JCN beat Pleasant Ridge and Maur Hill-Mount Academy last week to move to 15-3 on the season. 

Class 3A saw some movement for the two are boys teams ranked as the Sabetha boys moved up to number two this week and Royal Valley fell five spots to tenth. Sabetha moved to 17-1 on the season after wins over Riverside and Royal Valley and jumped up one spot to second in the polls, while the lady Bluejays also beat Riverside and Royal Valley to move to 17-1 and remain ranked third in 3A. For the Royal Valley boys it was a pair of losses to Sabetha and Nemaha Central last week sending them to 14-4 on the year and down to tenth in the rankings. While the Nemaha Central lady Thunder remain ranked fourth in the girls poll after wins over Holton and Royal Valley last week to move to 16-2 on the season. 

The Holton lady Wildcats had a rough week last week taking losses to Jeff West and Nemaha Central to fall to 10-8 on the season but remain ranked tenth in the polls this week. 

The regular season finishes this week and Sub-State is on the horizon with the brackets announced on Wednesday; teams are gearing up to make runs in the postseason.
