In their first matchup since the 2012-13 season, the Maur Hill-Mount Academy and ACCHS girls’ basketball teams struggled early offensively in front of an electric atmosphere.
The Ravens overcame the slow start, using a 15-0 run out of halftime to blow by the Tigers 47-16 in the first round of the Class 3A Hiawatha Sub-State.
To open up the ballgame the two squads used the first quarter to get acquainted with each other as MH-MA took just a 7-3 lead after one. The second quarter was much of the same, with the Ravens taking a 15-7 lead into the break as ACCHS senior Mallory Eckert was the only Tiger in the scoring column.
Out of halftime the Ravens hit their stride beginning the third quarter on a 20-2 run behind 10 points from junior Hana Ronnebaum to take control of the game the rest of the way.
