Centralia Girls Cruise Past South Barber in Opening Round of State

Looking to make noise yet again in another postseason tournament the Centralia lady Panthers basketball team was on the prowl in the first round of the Class 1A-Division I State tournament in Dodge City and cruised past South Barber to a 55-38 win. 

Tight early, Centralia led just 13-11 after the first quarter against South Barber but in the second quarter Katie Glatczak and company took over the first round State contest. The Panthers outscored South Barber 16-3 in the second to lead 29-14 at halftime and Glatczak 18 points and all in the first half for Centralia. That lead established in the first half by Centralia stood up and allowed them to pick up the win 55-38 and gain the win moving them into the Semifinals of the State tournament. 

Glatczak with her 18 points earned Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on the radio, while Chelsea Huerter chipped in 12 points for the Panthers. Centralia also won the rebounding battle out-rebounding South Barber 37-18 and had 15 second chance points to zero for their opponent. 

The win puts Centralia at 23-1 on the season and gives them a date on Friday in the Semifinals with Hoxie, the team the Panthers fell to in the 1A-DI State title game last year. The game is set for 3:00pm at the Civic Center in Dodge City. (game will be broadcasted on 92.1 KMZA - online
