(Ingalls beat Wetmore 64-51 - box score

Back at the State tournament for the second straight year and for the sixth time in school history the Wetmore lady Cardinals notched a fourth place finish their best at State since 2012 when they also took fourth.

The Cardinals finished the State tournament taking on Ingalls in the third place match. The game was tight early as Ingalls led just 10-8 after the first quarter but that lead grew to double digits in the second quarter and was eight at halftime as Ingalls was up 32-24. The Cardinals had top scorer Dakota McQueen saddled with four fouls in the first half and she started the second half on the bench and Wetmore dealt with foul trouble all second half as both Jill Henry and Gerae Havkerkamp fouled out of the game late in the third and four quarters, respectively. But despite the foul trouble Wetmore battled back into the contest getting to within five points in the final two minutes of the game, but Ingalls extended that lead back in the final minutes with free throws and held off Wetmore sending the Cardinals to the 64-51 loss and a fourth place finish at the 1A-Division II State tournament. Ingalls shot 54.1% from the floor and out-rebounded Wetmore 33-19 to help them gain the victory.

McKayla Henry paced Wetmore in the loss notching 16 points, while going 8-8 form the free throw line and earned Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" on the radio. McQueen chipped in 10 points and Haverkamp scored eight in her final game for the Cardinals.

Wetmore with the loss finishes the season 13-14 as they notched a Top four finish at State for the first time since 2012, by beating the one seed Norwich 47-39 but fell to Dighton 47-36 in the Semifinal and lost 64-56 in the third place game to Ingalls.
