INDEPENDENCE, Mo.(Raven Athletics) – For 30 minutes on Monday evening, the Raven Women's Basketball team matched their opponent in the 2016 NAIA Div. I Women's Basketball National Championship Fab Four point for point.

It was the first 10 minutes where Baker University (28-8) outscored Benedictine (29-7) 23-7 that did in the Ravens. The Wildcats used their hot first quarter to jump out and never looked back and took a 50-34 win over the Lady Ravens.

Baker used a 12-1 run that was sparked from the outside to jump ahead Benedictine 17-3 by the midpoint of the first quarter. The Wildcats finished the quarter 9 of 14 from the field while hitting five 3-pointers.

Baker converted just one more 3-pointer the rest of the game but the damage was done.

The Wildcats added 13 points in the second quarter to push their advantage to 36-15 at halftime. They finished half hitting 55.6 percent from the floor to Benedictine's 18.5 percent.

In the second half, the two teams combined for a total of 12 field goals as that familiarity began to settle in.

Defensively, the Ravens held the Wildcats to just 24 percent from the floor in the second half, which included an 0-for-11 effort from beyond the arc.

Ali Taff led the Ravens in scoring with 12 points while LaRanda Thomas added eight points off the bench. Kristin Murphy and Jordan Kramer finished with seven points each.

The 29-win season ties for second most in program history. The trip to the Fab Four was the furthest into a postseason tournament the program had ever played at either the NAIA Div. I or Div. II levels.

"All season we played really hard and never gave up," Kramer said. "There's nothing disappointing about being one of the last four teams standing, that's an accomplishment in itself. Even though it didn't end the way we wanted, we're still very proud of everyone and the way that we played."
