Royal Valley Competes at Abilene Track Invite

The Royal Valley Panthers stepped out of the area and faced off with nine other schools from across the State in track and field action on Friday at the Abilene Invitational. The Panther girls took eighth as a team, while the boys notched a seventh place team performance. 

Four first place finishes on the day all in the boys competition led the Panthers at the Abilene Invitational with three of the four coming by one individual. Lucas Broxterman brought home a trio of golds for Royal Valley by winning the 300 meter hurdles (41.93) and leaping his way to wins in the high jump (6'06) and long jump (19'08). Jarrett Roy notched the other first place finish for Royal Valley taking first in the boy's javelin behind a toss of 163'01. 

For the lady Panthers it was six Top four finishes that led them on the day. Macy Putnam earned a second and third place finish in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, respectively, while it was second and fourth place for Katie Hanshaww in the 3200 and 1600 meter runs. Kate Hanson also had two Top four finishes taking third in the shot put and fourth in the javelin. 

The track season rolls along for Royal Valley on Tuesday, April 26th at home as they host track action against several other area teams and others.
