JCN Boys & Girls Notch Second Place at Rossville Track Invite & Several Other Area Teams Perform Well

The track season rolled along last Friday in Rossville for several area teams and many of them put together strong performances on the day. 

In the girls action the Jefferson County North Chargers took home the best area team performance finishing second place behind St. Mary's, while Maur Hill-Mount Academy took third as a team. Hiawatha took seventh, Riverside 11th and Valley Falls 12th out of 12 teams. On the boys side JCN also had the best area team performance finishing second place like the girls and was only six points off of first place which was earned by Silver Lake. Riverside boys took fourth place as a team, while Maur Hill finished seventh, Hiawatha eighth and Valley Falls 12th. 

Five first place performances led JCN at the Rossville Invitational on Friday with four coming in the boys competition. The Charger boys posted a time of 3:34.16 to win the 4x400 meter relay, while Joel Abel, Ridge Robertson and Jacob Schrick each won a field event. Abel leapt his way to first place in the high jump (6'02), while Robertson won the pole vault (11'00) and Schrick tossed his way to the gold in the javelin (148'11). In the girls competition Ravyn Jobbins grabbed first place for JCN in the javelin with a toss of 108'06. 

Jack Siebert of Maur Hill earned a pair of golds at the Rossville Invitational as he paced his way to the win in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 4:46.52 and 10:30.034. For the lady Ravens they took first in the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays with times of 4:19.63 and 10:13.00, while Avery Lewman won the 400 meter dash (1:02.12). 

Hiawatha had Gavin Lierz lead them on the day as he swept the hurdles with times of 16.99 and 40.92 to win the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, respectively. While in the girls competition Kailey Davis won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:36.84.
