Former Centralia Panther, Lukas Koch Competing Strongly at K-State In Track

Former Centralia Panther, Lukas Koch continues to run to new heights as he continues his athletic career at Kansas State University running track and cross country. 

Now in his junior year at Kansas State, Koch continues to be a strong performer for the Wildcat track and cross country teams. Now into the outdoor track season the former Centralia Panther has competed in the 800 and 1500 meter runs, along with competing on one of the Wildcats men's 4x400 meter relay teams. His best time in the 1500 came at the LSU Battle on the Bayou posting a time of 3:48.44 to finish second out of 13 runners, while he also took second in the 1500 at the KT Woodman Invite in Wichita with a time of 3:53.16 and competed against 80 other runners in that race. Koch also took third at the UCLA Legends Invite out of seven runners & seventh at the John McDonnel Invite in Arkansas with 27 runners in that race in the 1500.

Lukas has run the 800 twice this outdoor track season finishing fourth at the Rock Chalk Classic with a time of 1:53.43; the race featured 20 runners. He also earned a 12th place finish in the 800 meter run at the KT Woodman Invite, running against 54 other runners. On top of those two events he has also ran as part of one of the Wildcats 4x400 meter relay teams notching a seventh and eighth place finish at the Rock Chalk Classic and KT Woodman Invite. 

During the Indoor track season Koch registered several top notch performances as he won the Mile run twice taking first at the Wildcat Invitational and the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas and took sixth in the same event at the Big 12 Championships. The Centralia native also competed in the 800 and 1000 meter runs, along with the Distance Medley Relay during the Indoor track season. 

Koch also runs for the K-State cross country team and competed well throughout the year including a 54th place finish at the Big 12 Championship out of 82 runners. 

The Wildcat junior enjoyed great success as a Centralia Panther in high school and has continued his athletic at K-State in strong fashion competing strongly and continually representing K-State and Centralia well.
