Washington County, Hanover & Linn Compete at Rock Hills Track Invite

A trio of Twin Valley League teams continued their track seasons on Friday at the Rock Hills Invitational as Washington County, Hanover and Linn competed against several other teams as track competitors continue to build to Regionals in the coming weeks. 

The top performance the three TVL schools came from Washington County boys as they finished second on the day of 15 teams competing and the Tigers were only four points out of first which was earned by Republic County in the boys competition. Hanover in the boy’s action finished eighth and Linn tied for 11th as a team. While in the girl’s action Linn led the three TVL schools as the Bulldogs notched a fifth place team performance out of 13 girl’s teams. Hanover girls took sixth and Washington County tied for ninth on the day. 

Individually the Washington County Tigers notched 12 Top three finishes on the day with half of those being event wins on the day. In the field events a trio of Tiger boys claimed gold as Levi Gauby, Hunter Kier and Jerrod Hoover all won events. Gauby took home first in the triple jump (39'03) and took third in the pole vault, while Kier won the discus (139'04) and Hoover earned first in the high jump (6'06) and third in the 110 meter hurdles. Washington County boys also took first in the 4x100 meter relay (44.78) and Cole Thompson won the 200 meter dash (23.50), while in the girl’s action Brooke Tuma won the discus (110'06). In the boys shot put Jae Eaton and Konnor Penning finished second and third for Washington County, while Jon Harding took second in the 110 meter hurdles and third in the 300 meter hurdles. 

Nine Top three finishes were garnered by the Hanover Wildcats as a trio of first place finishes by the lady Wildcats led the way. Paige Doebele took home first place in the girls triple jump (32'04.50), while Claire Zarybnicky won the 800 meter run (2:31.66) and the lady Wildcats claimed the gold in the 4x800 meter relay (10:59.40). The lady Wildcats also notched second place finishes in the both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. On the boy’s side of competition Matthew White earned second in the 100 meter dash for Hanover, while William Peters finished third in the high jump and the boys 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays each earned a bronze medal. 

 

Linn was led by three event winners also as Shelby Ohlde won the girls high jump (5'02), Brooke Diederich won the girls long jump (16'05) and the lady Bulldogs won the 4x100 meter relay (53.18). Diederich added a silver and bronze medal to her day as she took second in the 100 meter dash and third in the 200. In the boy’s action, Kolton Smith had the only Linn Top three finish, placing third in the javelin.
