Sabetha Boys Golf Wins Big Seven League Golf Tournament

Less than a week away from Regionals area boys golf teams hit the links to compete in League tournament action and the Big Seven League competition took place at Lake Perry Country Club this year and proved to be a highly competitive day of golf. 

The Sabetha Bluejays flew home with the Big Seven League title after posting a team score of 319 to win by four strokes over Jeff West who took second place. Holton Wildcats grabbed third place as a team with a 341, while Nemaha Central posted a team score of 355 for fourth place. Hiawatha, Perry Lecompton and Royal Valley finished fifth, sixth and seventh with team scores of 435, 445 and 477. ACCHS also was in action but did not field a full four-man team. 

While Sabetha posted the best team score it was the ACCHS Tigers with their two golfers in action carding two fo the Top three individual performances at the Big Seven League tournament. Sam Sowers shot a 72 to win the Big Seven League title for the Tigers and his teammate Patrick Sullivan notched a 75 good for third place. 

Second place individually went to Jeff West Tiger, Cooper Mickens who shot a 74 on the golf course and his teammate Preston Stanley tied for seventh with an 81. 

A quartet of Sabetha Bluejays finished in the Top 10 led by Garrett Scott who finished fourth with a 78. Jonah Montgomery tied for fifth with a 79, Conner Epples and Jesse Burger each shot an 81 to tie for seventh. 

Nemaha Central was led by Dylan Enneking who carded a 79 to tie for fifth, while Cory Nolte with an 81 tied for seventh for the Thunder. 

The Top 10 rounds at the League meet earned those golfers All-League honors in the Big Seven League for the year.  

Teams now turn their attention to Regionals coming up on Monday, May 16th.
