While weather postponed multiple State baseball and softball tournaments across the State the action was able to get rolling in Pratt for 2-1A softball with all four first place matchups able to be played.

The Valley Falls Dragons back at State for the first time since 2011 opened their State run with a thrilling first round win in extra innings over Northern Heights, claiming the 2-1 victory in eight innings.

Northern Heights struck first in the game plating their only run in the top of the second and led 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning when finally the Dragons got on the board as Allison Kearney blasted her eighth home run of the season and the solo shot tied the game at 1-1 after six innings. After a scoreless seventh inning the contest went into the eighth and in the bottom of the frame an RBI single past the shortstop by Reagan Kirkwood pushed the Dragons to the 2-1 win and into the 2-1A Semifinals in Pratt.

With the win Valley Falls improved to 20-4 on the season and won their 15-straight game to push them into the Semifinals of the 2-1A State tournament. Kirkwood led the Dragon offense with two of the team's five hits, including the game winning hit, while Josee Neiberger tossed all eight innings from the circle for the win giving up one run on four hits and struck out eight.

Dragons take on the one seed, Sedan in the Semifinal on Friday at 11:00am as they look to earn a spot in the Class 2-1A State Championship game.
