Sabetha Girls Tennis Hosts Hiawatha, Immaculata & Hayden in a Quad

The girls tennis season is now in full swing and the action continue for three area teams on Thursday as the Sabetha Bluejays hosted Hiawatha and Immaculata, along with Hayden. 

It was Hayden taking home overall first place as a team, but all the teams had strong performances as the host Sabetha finished second as a team overall on the day. Hiawatha and Immaculata finished third and fourth. 

Leading the lady Bluejays on the day was the play of the doubles teams who combined for a 6-0 day on the court. The team of Savanna Metzger and Laura Edelman went 3-0 in Doubles #1 action picking a 7-0 win over Immaculata and Hiawatha, while beating Hayden 7-3. Tandem of Jessica Stallbaumer and Angel Hadachek also went 3-0 in Doubles #2 action with a 7-0 win over Hiawatha, 7-1 win against Immaculata and 7-2 victory versus Hayden. In singles action Kirsten Wenger notched a 1-2 in Singles #1 with a win against Immaculata 7-4, while Mady McGill in Singles #2 action went 0-3 for Sabetha. 

Hiawatha Red Hawks were led by a second place finish on the day in Singles #1 action for Aubrey Wright who posted a 2-1 record. Wright earned a 7-5 win over Immaculata and 7-2 win over Sabetha. While in Singles #2 competition Becca Knudson went 1-2 for the Red Hawks with a win over Sabetha 7-0. In doubles action it was a 1-2 day for Sadie Meyer and Maddy Gruber in Doubles #1 picking up their win 7-1 over Immaculata, while the team of Sydney Lowe and Jasmine Morey were in action in Doubles #2 play and went 0-3. 

A 3-0 performances in Singles #2 action by Elenor Melero led Immaculata as she claimed first place with wins of 7-1 over Hayden and 7-5 over Sabetha and Hiawatha. The only Raiders to earn a win on the court at the Sabetha Quad was the doubles team of Virginia Wagner and Christina Conner who went 1-2 in Doubles #2 action with a win over Hiawatha 7-2. Also competing for the Raiders on the day was Sarah Gilbert in Singles #1 action and the team of Hannah Nine and Emily Chmidling in Doubles #1 both going 0-3 in action. 

The season continues for both Sabetha and Hiawatha on Saturday as the Red Hawks host tournament action, while Immaculata will next compete on the court on September the 17th at the Mill Valley Invite.
