Six Area Cross Country Teams Compete at Perry Lecompton

Six area cross country teams continued their season Thursday at the Perry Lecompton Invitational. 

A pair of third place finishes for area teams led way the area performances on Thursday as the Pleasant Ridge boys and Atchison girls both snagged third place finishes. Pleasant Ridge took third in the boys competition behind Tonganoxie and KC East Christian Academy, while Atchison placed fifth, Perry Lecompton took seventh, Royal Valley ninth, Jeff West tenth and Holton 11th place. 

In the girls race Atchison finished third place as a team, while the host Perry Lecompton followed in fourth place. Jeff West, Pleasant Ridge and Holton finished seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. 

A trio of Top 20 finishes led the Pleasant Ridge boys to their third place team finish with Luke Oatney leading the charge taking second place with a time of 16:55, while Dayton Flack and Garrett Silvers placed 12th and 17th. 

The Atchison girls also had a trio of Top 20 finishers to help them take third place as a team led by a third place finish by Emily Jaloma who posted a time of 21:07, while Teagan Hanson and Hailey Macierowski placed 17th and 20th, respectively. In the boys race Matthew Sowers ran to a time of 17:48 to place fifth for Atchison. 

The host Perry Lecompton was led by Lexia Jamison who with a time of 21:34 placed sixth in the girls race, while Blaise Ball and Jolie Hirsch placed 16th and 18th. In the boys competition Josh Mitts earned a 16th place finish. 

Jeff West Tigers had a pair of Top 10 runners in the girls race as Macy Tucker and Makenzie Tucker finished fourth and ninth behind times of 21:28 and 21:42. 

Holton and Royal Valley also competed on the day at the Perry Lecompton Invitational.
