Clifton-Clyde Eagles stepped out of the Twin Valley League on Saturday and continued the flight of the volleyball season at the Rock Hills Invitational grabbing a third place finish.
The day started in pool play for Clifton-Clyde and the Eagles suffered a tough three set loss to Thunder Ridge (12-25, 27-25, 11-25). The Eagles responded in strong fashion beating Rock Hills and Lincoln to finish pool play 2-1 and advance to the Semifinals. Clifton-Clyde downed the host Rock Hills in straight sets 25-10, 25-18 and then beat Lincoln also in straight sets 25-19, 25-10.
In the Semifinals the Eagles took on the winner of the other pool which was St. John's/Tipton and Clifton-Clyde took their second loss of the day falling 10-25, 16-25.
That sent Clifton-Clyde to the third place match and looking to finish the day with a win the Eagles did just that beating Logan in a hard fought three set contest, coming back from losing set one to win the match, 16-25, 25-21, 27-25.
The 3-2 day on the court moved Clifton-Clyde to 7-14 on the season and the season continues on Tuesday at the Valley Heights Triangular in TVL play.
