Kansas High School Football Rankings - Six Area Teams in Rankings After Week 5

The midway point as passed in the high school football season and seven area teams remain unbeaten through five games, while four are still searching for their first win of the season. After five weeks of action six area teams are in at least one ranking across the State of Kansas. 

Class 2-1A leads the way with a log jam of area teams in rankings as five area teams are getting attention the 2-1A polls this week. Leading the way as they have been all season is the Troy Trojans who are 5-0 after opening District play with a 62-28 win over Doniphan West last week; the Trojans continue to hold down the #1 spot in 2-1A and are the unianomous number one holding that spot in all the rankings below. Washington County Tigers bounced back from their first loss of the season to beat Jackson Heights 22-14 and move to 4-1 on the year and are in four rankings - #4 in the Topeka-Capital Journal, #5 by Kpreps and Kansasprepfootball.com and #6 in CatchitKansas Top 10 poll. For Jackson Heights it was their first loss of the season and they are 4-1 and still getting consideration for the rankings across the board. The Jefferson County North Chargers have charged past their competition to a 5-0 start routing Horton 42-6 last week and now rank #5 in three polls the VarsityKansas, Topeka-Capital Journal and CatchitKansas polls. Valley Heights is the other 2-1A area team getting attention in the rankings coming in at #7 in the CatchitKansas Top 10 poll this week. 

In 8-Man Division II the Hanover Wildcats continue to hold the #1 spot in all the polls after a 4-0 start to the year beating Wetmore 50-0 last week and have yet to give up any points this year. 

The 8-Man Division I level has the Clifton-Clyde Eagles from the area ranked #4 in the VarsityKansas poll after a 5-0 start to the season beating Herington 50-36 last week. 

Atchison Redmen continue to be ranked in a pair of polls coming in #3 in the VarsityKansas and Kansasprepfootball.com poll and #5 in the CatchitKansas rankings for Class 4A-Division I. The Redmen are 5-0 after cruising past KC Washington 58-6 last week. 

Class 4A-Division II the Holton Wildcats are getting some attention as they are now 2-3 on the year after a 47-7 win over Royal Valley last week. While in Class 3A both the Nemaha Central Thunder and Sabetha Bluejays remain unbeaten at 5-0 each and are still garnering attention in the polls each picking up big wins last week 53-19 over Centralia for the Thunder and 28-7 over Perry Lecompton for the Bluejays.
