Oskaloosa Uses Aerial Attack to Down Pleasant Ridge
By Jonny Kane

Entering Friday night the Pleasant Ridge Rams had won five straight games over Oskaloosa including a 38-6 win a year ago.

The Bears made sure that streak came to an end this year, as sophomore quarterback Jaxson Webb accounted for four total touchdowns in a 28-6 Oskaloosa win in Easton.

The Oskaloosa defense was the driving force to start forcing two Ram turnovers in the first six minutes of the game. The Bears took advantage late in the first quarter as Jaxson Webb connected with sophomore receiver Hunter Reed on a 28-yard touchdown pass with 3:03 remaining in the first quarter.

After a quick three-and-out by the Rams offense, Breydon Baragary came up with a potential momentum shifting play intercepting Webb in the end zone. But, Bargary fumbled with 5:59 remaining in the half setting up the Bears in Pleasant Ridge territory.

Webb took advantage again, this time connecting with Lucas Hatfield on a 21-yard touchdown pass, and Oskaloosa led 14-0 at the break.

The Bears took the opening kick out of halftime and put the nail in the coffin as Webb accounted for his third touchdown of the game on a four-yard rushing score putting Oskaloosa up 21-0 with 7:17 left in the third.

Baragary scored the only touchdown of the game for the Rams late in the game on a three-yard run, but Webb proved to be too tough in the end.

Jaxson Webb finished the game 15-of-20 passing for 236 yards and three touchdowns while also accounting for a rushing score. Hunter Redd and Hunter Evans each compiled over 85 yards receiving with Reed scoring a touchdown.

Both teams now gear up for district play next week with the Bears (4-2) hosting the current No. 1 team in Class 3A Silver Lake, while the Rams (1-5) welcome Maur Hill-Mount Academy to Easton.
