Several TVL Cross Country Teams Compete at Riley County Invite

The cross country season continued on Saturday for several Twin Valley League teams as they competed at the Riley County Invitational. 

The top area team performance came by the Centralia girls as they finished fifth out of 11 teams, while Washington County girls also fielded a team finishing 11th. Axtell, Centralia and Valley Heights all had girls in action on the day, also. 

In the boys competition area teams finished eighth, ninth, tenth and 11th out of 13 teams as Frankfort, Valley Heights, Washington County and Centralia posted those team finishes with Axtell also in action. 

Leading the boys performances for area runners was Adrian Pishny who continued his strong year posting a time of 17:43.14 to take third place, while his teammate, Alex Hardin with a time of 18:38.79 earned a tenth place finish on the day. 

Frankfort Wildcat, Broderic Shirley ran to a sixth place finish on the day behind a time of 18:11.91. 

The Axtell Eagles were led on the day by one of only two area girl’s runner to finish in the Top 20 as Olivia Kuckelman placed eighth with a time of 22:00.87. Axtell's top performance in the boys race belonged to Oliver Schmitz who finished 17th. 

The other area girl to grab a Top 20 finish on the day was Sadie Jones of Centralia who finished ninth with a time of 22:33.58. While, Centralia in the boys race was led by Dylan Boeckman who placed 18th. 

Washington County notched one Top 20 finisher on the day as Eric Miller placed 16th in the boy’s competition.
