Area teams from the Twin Valley and Big Seven League along with the host Marysville bumped up the volleyball for tournament action on Saturday to continue their seasons.

While the top spot on the day belonged to a non-area team in Concordia, second, third and fourth place finishes were earned by Nemaha Central, Hanover and Washington County, respectively.

In the Red pool, Washington County took first with a 4-0 record beating Royal Valley, Hanover and Republic County all three sets and earning straight set win over Marysville. Hanover took second in the pool but only posted a 2-2 record beating Royal Valley in straight sets and Republic County in three. Republic County also finished 2-2 in the pool but via the head to head the Wildcats advance to bracket play. Royal Valley and Marysville each posted 1-3 records with a win over Marysville for the Panthers in three sets, while Marysville beat Hanover in three sets.

The Black pool belonged to the Nemaha Central Thunder who went 4-0 with straight set wins over Riley County, Valley Heights, Sabetha and Concordia. Concordia took second in the pool by earning wins over Valley Heights, Riley County and Sabetha to go 3-1. Riley County went 2-2 in pool play, while Sabetha notched a 1-3 day and Valley Heights went 0-4. The Bluejays lone win was in straight sets over Valley Heights.

In the Semifinals the Black pool first and second place teams both earned wins as Concordia beat Washington County 25-15, 25-17, while Nemaha Central handled Hanover 25-19, 29-27. That set up rematches from earlier in the day in the Championship and third place matches and this time the winner was different than the first time.

Concordia handed Nemaha Central their only loss of the day winning 25-19, 25-12 to win the Marysville Invitational. While Hanover topped Washington County 25-18, 25-23 to take third and avenge the earlier day loss to the Tigers.
